Description

The Expert Electronics' ColibriNANO SDR receiver opens new horizons for HF band enthusiasts, thanks to its 14-bit ADC, which provides a ~110 dB BDR and up to 3 MHz sample rate. A 0.5 ppm local oscillator gives the ColibriNANO SDR radio a great frequency stability. Using the ColibriNANO SDR receiver remotely, in some rural area will give you the lowest air noise you've ever seen while won't rob you from any comfort or functionality. The ColibriNANO SDR radio operated by Expert Electronics' ExpertSDR2 software and compatible with popular HAM software such as HDSDR, SDRSharp via the ExtIO library.

You must enable the program on windows10 firewall, otherwise it will disable the communication. After every firmware upgrade, you should do it.

Expert Electronics ColibriNANO SDR receiver typical applications:

  • Direct connection with your laptop
  • Remote operation
  • Remote connection with a local transceiver
  • Spectrum analyzer

IMPORTANT NOTICE!
SDR radios have no control panel, therefore manufacturers do not supply a user manual. Our company only sells SDR hardware; operation of these devices requires various software that you can download from the internet.  Most of these software products are only available for download in the English language  from the websites of manufacturers and third party developers (many of them radio amateurs) either for free or for a fee.  Installation, setup and usage of the software require an intermediate level of proficiency in computing and the English language. We do not advise to buy these equipment unless you are in possession of these required skills, and we highly recommend to seek assistance and prior information from other radio hams on internet-based forums and user groups.

Blogger’s Review of the Wouxun KG-UVN1

This radio appeared in the Wouxun product lineup early 2019, in Hungary however it only had its debut in March 2020.
With my experience gathered over the years, I am actually happy that this time I am not reviewing a brand new device. Why? Usually, when new devices are put to market, despite all the extensive testing, the firmware always has some room for polishing. A one year old radio on the other hand usually has a firmware version already updated and bugfixed, and you can do without hunting for patches, firmware update or cope with menus full of irritating small bugs. I believe, this one year has been worth the wait.

SDRplay webinars and video reviews

We are informing you about some news from SDR World: about SDRplay's series of webinars, and about lots of video reviews.

What's new in the SDR world We have already shown you one of our latest favourites: the new SDRPlay RSPdx. Now you can hear and read about others' opinion about it.
A mini computer is enough to set up an SDR receiver

These micro computers are strong enough, no wonder radio hams make good use of them for DIY projects.
SDRplay have also compiled an image file with software needed for using your SDR. You just need to copy it to a Micro SD card and you can start listening on the radio bands.

RTLSDR through the eyes of an SWL observer over the past 8-10 years

SDR radio became popular in Hungary around 2012-2013 thanks to the RTL chip versions appearing among DVB-T Chinese USB TV receivers. Back then you couldn’t get these devices in Hungary, you had to order them from China. Since then the situation has changed a lot here, too.
