The Wouxun KG-UVN1 delivers the benefits of a premium digital mobile radio, while maintaining analog connectivity with a portable handheld transceiver. The KG-UVN1 transceiver operates at 70 cm UHF frequency up to 4 watts and 2 m VHF frequency up to 5 watts on a 12.5 kHz channel using TDMA digital technology.

The Wouxun KG-UVN1 analog / digital handheld transceiver has 3072 channels, 250 zones and 1024 contacts. This new analog / digital radio features CTCSS / DCS codes, digital encryption, channel scanning, group scanning and text messaging. Additional benefits include VOX (hands-free operation), full DTMF keyboard and programmable multifunctional side keys.

The Wouxun KG-UVN1 analog / digital handheld transceiver is a full-featured radio with high-end functionality such as independent programming in VFO and channel mode, private call, group call, all call, ARTS function, silent activation of squelch, menu hide, lone worker activation. Rugged, robust device, similar to industrial transceivers.

Of course, Wouxun won’t be Wouxun without it’s legendary color LCD, which is the basis of the KG-UVN1 transceiver! The large, bright screen provides maximum visual clarity for displaying menus, graphics and text messages, as well as 2 frequency bands.

You can easily connect accessories to the Wouxun KG-UVN1 transceiver. It uses a common SMA Male antenna connector and the same Kenwood 2-pin (K1) connector used by many other Wouxun radios. For optional accessories, see the Accessories list under the product description.

The Wouxun KG-UVN1 transceiver is compatible with DMR supported radios, Tier I and II compatible. It is also compatible with all analog two-way radios operating on UHF and VHF frequencies supported by amateur radio bands.

Blogger’s Review of the Wouxun KG-UVN1

This radio appeared in the Wouxun product lineup early 2019, in Hungary however it only had its debut in March 2020.
With my experience gathered over the years, I am actually happy that this time I am not reviewing a brand new device. Why? Usually, when new devices are put to market, despite all the extensive testing, the firmware always has some room for polishing. A one year old radio on the other hand usually has a firmware version already updated and bugfixed, and you can do without hunting for patches, firmware update or cope with menus full of irritating small bugs. I believe, this one year has been worth the wait.
